Officer Please!

Last night, I was discussing with an LA native/New Yorker some of the things we miss from back home:
  • MEXICAN FOOD (not really for me)
  • NICE SUNNY WEATHER: took me a good month of freezing my ass off to learn to use the heater and a good week of sweating away to turn on the ac when I first moved here. I've NEVER used either back home.
  • and just the laid- back, chill, carefree, sense-of-entitlement-so-I-don't-really-have-to-work-that-hard (more so in guys as a generalization) vibe that you find amongst LA people

then it got me to thinking...what do I not miss? or what do I love about New York?

NYC MODES OF TRANSPORTATION

  • Taxis- I don't have to worry about DD's or drunk driving or all that nonsense. Happy Hour in DTLa is almost impossible cause I don't want to risk going to jail.
  • Walking- It's just nice to get a breath of fresh air
  • SUBWAY- my commute is half of what it was in LA.. AND I get to read. I'm on my third book this month! Bliss!

I miss that I can't sing in the car/annoy my sister when we carpool and that I don't listen to NPR or Ryan Seacrest on KIIS and that grocery shopping is a CHORE without my friggin car BUT...

I DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH GAS!

I was thinking back to all the times I've run out of gas. (3x...oops) and.... what a relief! Those of you who have been lucky to experience such moments know that I just forget to look at the gas meter, even when the light is on. I was so jealous that Jon from Jon and Kate plus 8 always filled up her tank. (Not so jealous anymore...)

Then I looked up how much those portable gas tanks are on the internet. $8 dollars! I've bought at least two and paid at least $20 each! (They're hidden in my garage cause I know my parents would get mad that I'm so irresponsible and spoiled)

People like me make their world go round.

"Ran out of Gas" Moments Recap:
1. Driving home from SD at 2 in the morning. Ran out of gas in Anaheim or what Ann dubbed "Ana-CRIME!" Way to instill fear into my heart. AND my phone battery was dead. I almost cried b/c I learned that gas stations are not open 24hrs but drove to the nearest hotel and called AAA- jipped again.
2. Driving to work in our very old (100,000 miles +) extra car? I think it's dead now but I basically thought the car died on me as I pulled up to the office. It turns out, I just ran out of gas. haha.
3. Driving to Vegas with Julie and Di. Realized I was low on gas but there wasn't a stop for another 25 miles. Pulled over to some random stop but luckily highway patrol came to investigate. We got him to drive us to the next gas station where I was forced to buy this over-priced gas container....

Of course Julie HAD to call him out and ask why he could drive whilst checking his fancy po-po computer when we're not allowed to talk or text while driving. The audacity of this girl. -.-
Nonetheless, it's nice being a girl, and tapping into your feminine wiles when need be.

memoriessss.....
