"When you're a pioneer, failure is an option. Fear is not."
Levi CEO-Robert Hanson (or one of his fellow minions)

The conversation started out with words like iconic, passion for the product, original, defining blah blah blah....
But two hours later and a meeting with my Senior of not only my performance review goals but my optional stretch goal/challenge....they got the job done.
Newly motivated Levi's employee.... :) I'm so easy.
Does this mean no more gchat?

ReplyDeleteMight be a bit of a non sequitur, but...
ReplyDeleteJames Cameron had a pretty similar message in his TED talk posted a couple weeks back. The talk itself was a bit underwhelming I thought, but I dug the message:
"Don’t put limitations on yourself. Other people will do that for you. Don’t do it to yourself. Don’t bet against yourself. And take risks. NASA has this phrase that they like, 'Failure is not an option.' But failure has to be an option. In art and in exploration, failure has to be an option. Because it is a leap of faith. And no important endeavor that required innovation was done without risk. You have to be willing to take those risks ... [I]n whatever you are doing, failure is an option. But fear is not.”
