Sept and Oct Reads!

Wow. In the wake of my unemployed yet very busy social calendar, my blogging has taken a hit.
(Not that it really matters)

SEPTEMBER reads:
Light and entertaining.
Can not wait for the movie adaptation starring my favorites: Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess to come out. Truth be told, I imagined the characters to be them as I read it.

To get in the mood for India...

OCTOBER:
This too.
Based on a true story of an Australian convict who escaped prison and fled to Bombay. He eventually worked for the Bombay mafia, got caught, served his time and is now a renowned author.
A bit too sensationalistic (is that even a word?) but the fastest 1000 pages I've ever read. I think the latter really helped me understand India and prevent major culture shock when I arrived.

As embarrassing as it is to admit, I did read this. All of it.
And...WHAT A WASTE!
In my defense, I ran out of reading material and this was my roommate's.
HOWEVER, I will admit that Nicholas Sparks was, at one point in time, a favorite author of mine.
Think junior high-Mandy Moore-A Walk to Remember.

I bought this in India!
My their publishing sucks but another great short story book by an Indian American writer.

Lastly,
Thank you MIKE WANG.
Best going away present to give a bookworm like me. Especially loving that it was his own copy.
(This is why I won't succumb to the whole Kindle craze.)
I think I'm Murakami-ed out now. This was supposed to be one of his best but I still enjoyed Kafka on the Shore much more. I don't like how all the themes and settings of his novels are starting to blend together too.

That's enough of my nerdiness.
India picture posting awaits!
